Water Backup Insurance / Sewer Backup Insurance
Your standard homeowner’s insurance policy or business insurance policy generally does not cover water backup or sewer backup. Non-flood water damage from a rising water table that seeps into your basement, water that backs up through sewers or drains, or overflows from a sump pump can be quite costly if you have to pay to make repairs without the help of insurance.
We offer water backup insurance / sewer backup insurance as an additional coverage on your homeowners’ or renter’s insurance policy. Sewer backup insurance is relatively inexpensive, in most cases, and is well worth the investment in your peace of mind. Coverage limits are generally between $5,000 and $10,000 but choices vary.
When choosing your water backup and sewer backup insurance coverage, you need to consider everything in your basement – from appliances, electronics and furniture to the flooring and carpeting beneath them. What would it cost you to replace everything because of water damage? Include clean up expenses in that total as well.
Remember, this coverage is different than flood insurance. You’ll need a separate Flood Policy to protect your home from flood damage.
